Health Apps Primed to Save Lives

Cardio Respiratory Sleep (CRS) is partnering with ResApp Health to develop SnoreApp for smartphones to aid in the detection of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). This is a condition that causes sufferers to snore and to stop breathing, often hundreds of times a night, resulting in poor quality sleep. OSA can be a debilitating condition, impacting not only the individual and their partner’s quality of life, but potentially leading to other life-threatening conditions such as cardiovascular disease, obesity and stroke.

ResApp Health has recently announced another product in this space, an app to assist in the diagnosis of respiratory diseases such as asthma and bronchiolitis from the distinctive cough they produce and completion of a series of questions. The results can help guide GPs in their decisions on testing and management of patients. The company is currently awaiting regulatory approval before making the app generally available.
