Home Based Sleep Study

A Home‑Based Sleep Study is an overnight assessment that monitors how your body functions while you sleep. Using specialised equipment, we track your brain activity, breathing, heart rate, oxygen levels, and movement throughout the night. This helps our clinicians identify conditions such as sleep apnea, snoring, and other sleep disorders, so you can receive the right care and treatment.

We offer two types of home‑based sleep studies: an after‑hours technician applied set‑up, and a self applied study you fit at home yourself. Trained technologist applied set‑ups typically provide more accurate results due to the preparation and precise placement of sensors. The locations offering each option are listed below.

What happens during a Home‑Based Sleep Study?

- Initial check: When you arrive at the clinic, a technician will check your vital signs and take a few reference photos to support accurate interpretation of your sleep study results.

- Technician applied: The sleep study set‑up takes about 45-60 minutes. A series of leads and sensors are placed around your head, face, chest, and legs. Signals are checked verified before you leave.

- Self applied: The technician will guide you through the set‑up instructions, including skin preparation and lead and sensor placement. You’ll also receive a video link to follow at home.

- Overnight monitoring: Each lead/sensor serve a unique purpose to provide a holistic overview of your sleep, including:

 - Brain wave activity

 - Heart activity

 - Oxygen levels

 - Breathing patterns

 - Limb movements

- Purpose of leads: Each lead has a unique role, so applying them correctly is important for accurate results.

Technicians explain each step of the process and make sure you are comfortable before the study begins.
